How Clear Focus Tools handles local and optionally synced game results
2026/07/20
Introduction
Clear Focus Tools is a free browser-based site for short cognitive games, including attention, memory, speed, inhibition, and rule-switching games. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the site.
Information We Handle
Playing does not require an account. You may optionally sign in with Google to sync retained game-session history across devices. The site does not offer payments, uploads, comments, or public profiles.
We may handle the following information:
- Browser-local game data: Completed sessions, game settings, raw result metrics, and daily workout progress may be saved in your browser on your device when local storage is available. This data remains local unless you sign in and explicitly choose to import it.
- Optional account data: If you sign in, we receive basic Google account information used by Better Auth, such as your name, email address, profile image, and provider identifier. Google may also issue access, refresh, and ID tokens plus the approved sign-in scopes. Better Auth encrypts access and refresh tokens before storing them in D1. These credentials are used only to establish or maintain the optional sign-in connection, not for advertising.
- Synced game data: For signed-in users, Cloudflare D1 may store game IDs, start and completion times, duration, settings, result metrics, source, and daily workout identifier. We retain the newest 50 sessions per game.
- Session security data: Account sessions may include a session token, creation and expiration times, IP address, and browser user-agent string for authentication and device-session controls.
- Basic analytics data: We use Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate site usage, such as page views and referrers.
- Operational data: Cloudflare may process request data needed to serve, secure, and operate the website.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Run the website and focus exercises.
- Show recent results locally and, when you choose, across signed-in devices.
- Authenticate accounts, prevent abuse, and let you revoke device sessions.
- Understand aggregate traffic and improve the site.
- Monitor reliability, abuse, and technical issues.
Local Storage
Exercise results are intended for self-comparison only. Anonymous history stays in local storage. After sign-in, we ask separately before importing anonymous history; sign-in by itself does not upload it. Declining import leaves that history on the device.
Retention And Your Controls
Signed-in users can export retained progress, clear synced progress, revoke other sessions, sign out, or delete their account from the Account page. Clear synced progress removes retained game history without deleting the account. Account deletion removes the account and associated synced history. Local data can also be removed through the Progress page or browser settings.
Account identity, provider-link data, and stored provider-token values are retained until the account or link is deleted. A token's validity may expire or be revoked by Google earlier, and its stored value may be replaced by a later authentication. Account sessions expire after seven days unless refreshed, revoked, or deleted sooner. The newest 50 synchronized sessions per game are retained until you clear them or delete the account.
Third-Party Services
The site is served through Cloudflare Workers, stores optional account and sync data in Cloudflare D1, uses Better Auth for authentication, and uses Google as the optional sign-in provider. Plausible Analytics provides privacy-conscious aggregate analytics. We do not use payment providers, newsletter providers, or advertising networks in this version.
